Board of Directors
JAN VAN DEN BROEK
Jan van den Broek is an all-round financial specialist. He has been active for 45 years, including 15 years at Deloitte Accountancy. He has worked for many large and small companies. He currently has his own financial advisory office. Based on his financial expertise and his skills as a coach, he has devoted himself to the interests of children in recent years. He is treasurer at various foundations.
HANS FRANKE
Hans Franke graduated in business administration and law. After graduating, he worked as a lawyer in the areas of collective advocacy for stockholders and the development of investments in commercial forestry to reduce the pressure on natural forest land. He currently works for various companies and partnerships, both in the for-profit and non-profit sectors.
NOORA MÄKI
Noora Mäki is a legal professional with broad experience in both private as well as public law. Noora holds two master degrees in law, one from Finland and one from the Netherlands. During her career she has gained extensive working experience from private and public sector, including working as a court clerk and a judge in Finland prior to moving to the Netherlands. Most recently she is employed as a legal counsel with focus on advising international companies and their legal teams.
Supervisory Board
NAJAT IDRISSI
Najat is one of the few lawyers who specializes in indirect taxes. This includes VAT, customs and excise duties. In addition to her legal work, she lectures and obtained her PhD at the Erasmus University in Rotterdam. She is a much sought-after author in the field of VAT and a speaker at meetings or conferences. Lastly, she is a member of the Dutch Association of Lawyers-Tax Experts.
WIJNAND PRINS
Wijnand Prins is an educational professional and has been highly involved in the social sector. He is actively involved in the development of (higher) professional education (HBO / MBO / ROC). He is the initiator of various projects and advises the board of various organizations with regard to vocational education. He has been involved with various foundations as founder, chairman, board member, or advisor.
SERGEI PUREWAL
Sergei Purewal is a solicitor with significant national and international high value, complex dispute resolution (ADR) and civil litigation experience and is admitted to practice law in England and Wales. Sergei was recognised as top 500 Global Plaintiff Lawyers by Lawdragon 2024, as well as a Nominee for the Wealth and Asset Management Awards, 2024.

STEVE BERMAN
Steve Berman represents consumers, investors and employees in large, complex litigation held in state and federal courts. Steve's trial experience has earned him significant recognition and led The National Law Journal to name him one of the 100 most powerful lawyers in the nation, and to repeatedly name Hagens Berman one of the top 10 plaintiffs’ firms in the country. Steve was named an MVP of the Year by Law360 from 2016 to 2019 for his class-action litigation and received the 2017 Plaintiffs’ Trailblazer award. He was recognized for the third year in a row as an Elite Trial Lawyer by The National Law Journal.
MENNO WEIJ
Menno has more than 20 years of work experience in the field of tech & privacy. He is co-founder of IncPlus (a start-up incubator) and the legal-tech startup DocBldr/VraagHugo. Menno is also a member of the editorial board of the magazine "Tijdschrift voor Internetrecht", and a board member of the Dutch Association for Information Technology and Law. Menno is an ambassador at the Dutch Startup Association and commissioner at the Security of Things Fund. Lastly, Menno can be heard regularly on BNR Nieuwsradio.
LIESBETH ZEGVELD
Liesbeth Zegveld specializes in liability for human rights violations. She is particularly committed to helping war victims. She founded the Nuhanovic Foundation, with the aim of facilitating access to justice for war victims. In 2011 she received the Clara Meijer-Wichmann medal in recognition of her commitment to defending human rights, and in 2014 she received the Amsterdam Dean's Prize. In 2016 he was chosen as Most Regarded Lawyer of the year.

Kariem Madani
Team Leader
Kariem is a driven professional with more than 16 years of experience in various sectors, including insurance. His broad interests and analytical skills have given him a deep insight into processes, management and GDPR legislation. Kariem uses his knowledge and experience to strengthen SOMI and make a concrete contribution to the protection of privacy rights in the society.
Danique Schaeffer
Account Manager
With her experience in the commercial world, Danique has developed a keen eye for how companies handle personal data. She understands the complexity of GDPR regulations and the impact of data breaches on individuals. Danique is now using her drive to build business relationships to support SOMI's mission: ensuring the privacy rights of citizens and promoting transparency in the handling of personal data. She is determined to contribute to a fairer digital world where everyone has control over their own data.
Jullaya Vorasuntharosoth
Campaign Director
Prior to joining SOMI, Jullaya worked in various roles in marketing and content creation. She graduated with a Master’s in Cultural Economics from Erasmus University. She pays great attention to details and ensures campaign implementation follows privacy and data protection guidelines.
